STUDENTS from all over the United Kingdom recently organised a ‘Meninggi Tahap’ workshop at Brunei Hall in London.

The workshop aimed to disseminate information on the process of ‘Meninggi Tahap’, encouraging students to go for further studies, and giving exposure on the process of applying for The Chancellor’s Scholar, Sultan’s Scholar and other scholarship opportunities.

The workshop began with a presentation by Cikgu Siti Hairaney @ Irene binti Haji Shahri, Academic Coordinator Officer from Brunei Students’ Unit in the United Kingdom.

Cikgu Siti Hairaney highlighted the importance of selecting a course that is in-demand with the needs for the development of Brunei based from the scholarship list. The list of courses offered by the Ministry of Education (MoE) changes on a yearly basis and she advised that the research proposal must be in-line with Brunei Vision 2035.

Proposals have to be relevant and useful for Brunei’s development to gain support from the scholarship unit. She also advised students to always ensure that the selected courses are not directly available in local universities.
